A drug development company was created in Boca Raton based on discoveries at Florida Atlantic University.

Eco Neurologics awarded a $353,000 sponsored research grant to FAU assistant professor Ken Dawson-Scully, its lead scientific consult. The company has licensed intellectual property from FAU as it seeks to develop drugs to treat febrile epilepsy, migraines and brain injury during stroke.

“We are at a critical stage in developing therapies for these devastating diseases, and this support will initiate a strong relationship between Eco Neurologics, Inc. and FAU,” Dawson-Scully stated in a news release. “This corporate relationship establishes the infrastructure for the company’s success, and aligns FAU with the strategic plan of our neighboring institutes, the Scripps Research Institute Florida and the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience.”

Led by Ferris H. Lander and George Jackowski, Eco Neurologics is based in the Research Park at FAU.
