Three Companies Receive Institute Funding
The Institute has finalized first-round funding agreements with Genetic Networks, a Miami based company with technology licensed from the University of Miami, Kairos a Miami-based company with technology licensed from the University of Central Florida, and KynderMed, a medical device start-up company with technology licensed from Florida State University.
Genetic Networks accelerates drug discovery and predictive medicine through its proprietary data-driven approach that delivers actionable data on both genes and compounds. Kairos is a human analytics company that uses three-dimensional data to measure people's feelings and interactions. KynderMed has developed a safe, non-invasive product that enables at-risk women to avoid the onset of premature labor, which causes one million infant deaths globally per year and costs the healthcare system an estimated $50+ billion.
FAN Investors I GP, LLC (FAN) announced the initial closing of FAN Investors Fund I, LP with capital in excess of $5 million. FAN Fund was established to invest capital and seek appreciation in growth-oriented seed and early stage technology and life science companies within the State of Florida. The FAN Fund takes a hands-on approach with its portfolio companies, and works closely with members of the Florida Angel Nexus, an entity whose purpose is to coordinate, educate and grow the community of angel investors who invest in emerging companies and to promote the entrepreneurial environment in Florida. Amir Ruben, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Paracosm presented at the TEDxYOUTH@BeaconStreet in Boston on November 14th. Started in 2012, TEDxBeaconStreet is one of the most innovative TEDx events in the world. Widely recognized in the TED and TEDx community for their unique vision, TEDxBeaconStreet is a multi-generational learning community with the goal of putting Ideas in Action. Prior to co-founding Paracosm, a cloud-based software company that leverages 3D mapping technology to unleash the digital world, Amir graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in computer engineering. He co-founded Prioria Robotics during his senior year, developed a stereo-vision system for weighing cattle based only on imagery, and later joined Shadow Health as employee No. 1 where he helped develop and launch their 3D simulation healthcare product.

TSensors Summits, the world’s leading visionaries in sensor technologies will come together in Central Florida in an effort to accelerate the development of ultra-high volume sensors that will support the vision of “abundance”, mobile health (mHealth) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
