Enterade USA Receives Seed Funding from Florida Institute

Newberry-based health, nutrition and wellness company bringing rehydration technology platform to market

Gainesville and Boca Raton, FL – May 21, 2014 - The Institute for Commercialization of Public Research (the Institute) announced today that it has finalized a funding agreement with Enterade USA, developers of medical foods and products that stabilize GI function and help alleviate side effects experienced by patients undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The Institute works with Florida’s research universities and institutions to support new company creation and job growth, bridging early funding gaps and enabling them to attract additional private investment capital.

Enterade uses science from the laboratory to create medical foods that combine cutting edge research with the lifestyle demands of patients wanting to gain back their independence and functionality while coping with the debilitating effects of acute/chronic disease states. Its lead product is specially formulated to rapidly replace critical electrolytes and fluids lost due to chronic diarrhea, and helps correct pH in the upper GI, reducing likelihood for nausea.

“By constantly evolving to meet patient needs, Enterade will continue to develop medical foods, diagnostics and therapeutics, which offer patients choice and help support them with their cancer treatments,” said Stephen Gatto, Enterade CEO. “Enterade products promote positive GI health while addressing other disease states such as Cystic Fibrosis, thereby improving the quality of people’s lives in ways that, until now, have not been possible.”

“Testimonials from patients who have ingested Enterade to alleviate the uncomfortable and debilitating side effects of cancer treatment are living proof that the research and discovery taking place at Florida universities can truly improve people’s lives” said Jamie Grooms, CEO of the Institute. “Enterade exemplifies the great work that is being done right in our own backyard, and the Institute is pleased to support their continued growth and success.”
