Florida Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research Launches the $3M Florida Research Commercialization Matching Grant Program

Program awards grants up to $50,000 (Phase I) or $250,000 (Phase II) to help companies bring products to market

Boca Raton, Fla. – The Florida Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research (the Institute) announces the launch of the Florida Research Commercialization Matching Grant Program.

“The program is designed to increase federal funding to Florida technology companies,” explained Jane Teague, interim executive director of the Institute. “This will help them accelerate the innovation process and transform research results into marketable products and technologies.”

One-time awards of up to $50,000 for Phase I and up to $250,000 for Phase II grants are available for qualifying applicants who have previously received Federal SBIR or STTR Phase I or Phase II grant awards. Grants for Phase I applicants must have been awarded on or after January 1, 2010. Grants for Phase II applicants must have been awarded on or after January 1, 2009, and all applicants must have an active grant project underway.

The Matching Grant Program is designed to be a catalyst for small or start-up companies that can take advantage of federal and state grant funding in order to accelerate their growth and market penetration by helping to overcome the funding gap faced by many small companies. The grant, established by Florida’s Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development (OTTED) and Enterprise Florida, will be administered by the Florida Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research.
