Second Annual Cade Prize for Innovation Application Deadline Extended to January 7, 2011

GAINESVILLE, FL - The Cade Museum Foundation is delighted to announce that it has extended the application deadline for the 2011 Cade Prize for Innovation until NOON on Friday, January 7, 2011. Additional financial support for the four finalists has also been added!
2011 marks the second year of the Cade Prize for Innovation, a competition to recognize and encourage Florida innovators. The 2011 CADE PRIZE consists of a $50,000 cash award, funded through a generous grant from the Gainesville Community Foundation, and one year free membership and office space with the Gainesville Technology Enterprise Center (GTEC) incubator program, provided by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce and Council for Economic Outreach, through the Innovation Gainesville program. Additionally, this year, the second, third and fourth place finalists will each receive $5,000 in seed capital.

The goal of the competition is to strengthen and develop the long-standing culture of innovation inGainesville and throughout Florida and to harness the tremendous job-creating potential of the numerous ideas springing forth from this region every day. Last year’s competition drew more than 100 entries from around Florida and was won by Tutor Matching Service, an innovative way to match instructors and students worldwide. The other finalists included a cancer early-detection device, a water treatment invention, and a new type of environmentally-friendly plastic. Applicants from Florida are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is NOON on Friday, January 7, 2011. The winner will be announced on Cade Prize Night; a gala event on May 12, 2011.
